Blaze Handled In Defiance

A home on Defiance’s Jefferson Avenue is completely destroyed by fire. No injuries were reported to the male occupant of the two-story home. The fire team comes out okay, too. The man was out of the home when firefighters got there. Officials tell reporters…dispatch crews received multiple calls. They add…when the crew arrives…there wasn’t much they could do to save the home…fully engulfed in flames, at that point. That’s when the team goes into what they call…a defensive attack to get the blaze under control and protect surrounding homes. The idea?…to keep the damage to one home, only. They get it done…sparing those other houses. Crews from Defiance…Highland Township and Noble Township…along with South Richland Township Fire…worked together in the firefighting operation. The fire’s cause is undetermined and still under investigation. The state fire marshal’s office has been called in to help out.
