In a tight race for Williams County commissioner, Bart Westfall held a slim lead over Steve Towns and Debra Holbrook Beevers in unofficial election night results. The Bryan Times reported results that include 20 of 28 county precincts and do not include the 1,214 ballots that were scanned late Tuesday, due to an early election morning issue with ballot barcodes. The winner of the primary is the probable next commissioner, as there is no Democratic candidate and no independent or write-in has announced yet for the term that begins Jan. 1. That person will replace four-term commissioner Brian Davis, who announced in June 2021, he would not seek another term.
