Cold Case With Local Connections

In Florida…the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in solving a cold case homicide. The remains of Douglas Streeter, a Bryan man, were recently identified after nearly 50 years. Streeter went missing while traveling to Boca Raton, Florida with a group of friends. He was last seen in March of 1976 and his whereabouts remained unknown until the recent identification of his remains. A few months later…officials initially recovered the skeletal remains in a rural region of Palm Beach County, but were unable to identify them. They determined the victim had been shot. The use of forensic investigative genetic genealogy, a recent technological advancement that uses genetic databases to match up DNA samples, allowed the police to finally connect the remains to Streeter.
