Ground has been broken on the new football field for the Bryan City School District, and new lights and scoreboard should be installed next month. District officials tells the school board work began on the football field June 1, though a ceremonial groundbreaking was done after the meeting. Maumee Bay Turf Center is charging $877,396 dollars for installation of synthetic turf and $105,384 for a 50 foot by 100 foot concrete high jump area with a 25 foot by 25 foot concrete landing pad. The entire project includes adding markers to the football field so it can double as a soccer field. Musco Sports Lighting will replace the lights at a cost of $378,612 plus taxes…installing 49 light fixtures, two 70-foot steel poles and two 100-foot steel poles. A new scoreboard was purchased with a $327,217 donation from the Bryan Athletic Boosters. They are expected to be installed at the end of July.
