Crop planting and emerging rates are faring better than average this year, but the warm, dry weather could cause problems. According to a release from the Department of Agriculture, farmers have been utilizing the dry weather to plant their crops at a faster rate than the five-year average. Corn is 95% planted throughout the state as of Sunday, well above the five-year average of 79% typically planted at this time. Similarly, producers have put 94% of soybeans in the ground, ahead of the five-year average of 67%.
