The former AT&T building in West Unity on Ohio 191 is moving closer to being torn down, the Williams County Land Reutilization Corp. learns. Officials say…the site was recently approved for a site assessment grant…adding…the cost for remediating the building is not yet known, but it is believed the next round of funding, in addition to carryover from previous funds, will be enough to do that, as well as other potential sites. The grant applications for brownfield and revitalization are due in April. There was discussion on the villages of Montpelier and Pioneer possibly sharing engineer services to determine the feasibility of tearing down a building in each community that shares a wall with another. Land bank board member Jason Rockey, village administrator for Montpelier, said he believed his council would be in favor. A member of the board will reach out to Pioneer to see if there is interest there. An access agreement will also be necessary for the building in Montpelier prior to an assessment being done.
