Health officials say…no reported COVID omicron variant cases have been detected in the seven county region of northwest Ohio. So far…Williams, Defiance, Henry, Fulton, Putnam, Paulding and Van Wert, counties have avoided it. With that said…officials add…the overall number of COVID cases in Williams County remains high. 127 deaths have been attributed to COVID in the county since the beginning of April 2020. We reported the county led the state for three consecutive weeks in December in cases per capita. It is now at 602 COVID cases per 100,000 population, ranking it one of the lowest in the state at 77th out of 88 counties. Statewide data shows 37,626 cases and 183 hospitalizations earlier this week.
