The new hangar under construction at the Williams County Regional Airport is under budget but behind schedule, that’s what Airport Authority President, Brent Wilson tells county commissioners on Thursday. The building is envisioned as both an emergency staging facility by the county Emergency Management Agency…which currently does not have a dedicated place in case of emergency…and as a hangar to store private aircraft. Thus, rather than just have an EMA building that sits empty 95% of the time, the building can also serve as a hangar and bring in revenue. The building, located along County Road D, just east of the airport’s main office, is estimated to cost about $2.3 million dollars. Officials met with the contractor recently in an effort to speed up the project, which is in the fifth month of what was expected to be a six month effort.
