A new round of leasing of the 150 acres of county-owned farmland around the county’s Hillside Country Living facility drew three bids at the bid opening at the county commissioner meeting. The land is in five parcels…totaling 151.1 acres east and west of Opdycke Park, at county roads 16 and I. The current lessee is Logan Reese, of Montpelier. He submitted bids of $307/acre for the two largest parcels, and $278/acre for the three smaller ones. Reese’s lease was for three years and is expiring. The newest bids are for a five-year lease term. LGR Farms, of Stryker, bid $190 per acre for all five parcels, and 3D Farms, of West Unity, bid $318/acre for all five parcels. Commissioners said they would forward the bids to the county engineer’s office for review and a recommendation.
