Brown Focuses On The Local Farm

Sen. Sherrod Brown wants to make it easier for farmers to sell their products locally through this year’s Farm Bill. Part of that will be to renew and update the Local FARMS Act of 2017 along with the Local Agriculture Market Program. His interest in extending the bill comes from roundtables he has held with farmers across the state. That was the origin of the Local FARMS Act and LAMP program, part of the 2018 Farm Bill. These programs helped farmers feed their communities, helped customers buy local food and farm products and also provided funding to help farmers sell directly to consumers. Roundtables for this year’s Farm Bill have discussed these programs, how they help and how they can be improved, Brown says.
