The turnout for next week’s special election has been good, officials say. Early voting for the Aug. 8 ballot began in person and by mail on July 11, though military and overseas absentee voting began June 23. The special election was called earlier this year, after Gov., DeWine signed a law…eliminating most August special elections. Specifically, it would increase the votes needed to 60%…while requiring a citizen-led initiative to get signatures of 5% of voters from each of Ohio’s 88 counties…based on the last gubernatorial election…and eliminate the ability add signatures after submittal to the Secretary of State.
