The Williams County commissioners give approval for the Williams Soil and Water Conservation District to apply for a grant for a local ditch project. SWCD had been approached by landowner and farmer Kevin Miller about the project that would be at least partially funded through the H2Ohio Conservation Ditch Grant Program. Officials say the ditch would need to be on the county’s maintenance schedule. Adding…it also may help alleviate some flooding issues in the area around the ditch, which is on the west side of County Road 21, south of County Road A. The goal of the overall H2Ohio program is to reduce the amount of agricultural nutrient runoff reaching Lake Erie, which is believed to at cause algal blooms in the lake. The commissioners also approve an $83 thousand dollar change order increase for the County Road 22 reclamation rebid project. That brings the final cost of the project to $987 thousand.
