Budget Time In Bryan

The Bryan Board of Public Affairs is presented with the Bryan Municipal Utilities proposed budgets for 2024. On the electric side, operations and management shows a total of $21 million dollars in revenue, with $20 million of that coming from charges for service. Electric expenses are being proposed at $19.2 million total, with $10.5 million dollars of that in purchased power. Electric has about $1.7 million in total capital projects planned for next year, including phase 2 of improvements at the substation at $350,000, and $969,000 for various electric distribution projects. The water operating and management budget proposes $2.8 million in total revenue, with $2.7 million coming from customer sales. Expenses are being proposed at $2.5 million. Water capital improvement projects total $897,000, with $550,000 proposed for waterline improvements along South Lynn Street. This project should add 80 new services and five fire hydrants. Bids for that project should be received by Dec. 21. Another planned project is in the Blakeslee Avenue and Navarre Avenue area at $120,000.
