The Edon Northwest Local School District Board of Education discussed putting a replacement tax levy before voters as well as how to handle the April eclipse event. Before agreeing to put a replacement income tax issue on the ballot, the board had to rescind a previous resolution it passed, authorizing a renewal. Superintendent, Anthony Stevens told the board the change needs to be made in order for the district to receive the same amount of money it has for the past several years. He added when the board originally passed the resolution in 2015, the dollar amount attached to it was $450,000 dollars, which equated to a 1% earned income tax…now, due to inflation and the district’s income base rising, going with a renewal would have effectively reduced the income tax percentage to .75%. The resolution passed by the board for the replacement levy increases the dollar amount in order to keep the percentage at 1%.
