Funds For Security

Northwest State Community College is among 27 public colleges and universities selected to receive Ohio Department of Higher Education funding, to improve campus security. NSCC will get $174 thousand dollars from Ohio’s 2021 Campus Safety Grant Program. It is one of two new school safety programs launched by the Ohio School Safety Center, this year.

Morton Says Wear A Mask

Superintendent, Bob Morton of Defiance City Schools says…students, staff and visitors on campus…will be required to wear masks indoors, beginning now. He tells the public…during the first nine days of school, the district had 20 student cases and two staff cases of covid…resulting in 77 student quarantines.

Guilford Enters Plea

A Hicksville businessman enters pleas to two criminal charges in a Defiance County courtroom. Bruce Guilford, 66, of Hicksville, pleads guilty to what is called a bill of information…charging him with extortionate extension of credit…and unlawful restraint. He is placed on community control while two grand jury indictments for far more serious crimes were dismissed.

Carl Schikora is arrested…accused of breaking windows at the United Brethren Church on County Road 5.75. Busted.

Bryan Police…search warrant in hand…rolls up on the Bryan Inn on East High Street…and apprehends a fugitive from Indiana. Robert Stouder, 41, of Warsaw…was wanted for failing to appear in court after being charged with domestic battery. Stouder remains in custody at CCNO, awaiting extradition.
